week of May 23rd

Hello, Everyone!
It's been a busy and beautiful May. First Communion Day has come and gone. Jesus lives with our dear Second Graders. They are so happy and recall often the happenings of the day.
Today, our 7th graders received their Confirmation and the Spirit will lead them to inspire and spread God's love to all. Congratulations and thank you to the parents of both these grades.

Thank you to the many who were so thoughtful to remember me on my birthday. I always try to keep it a secret. The gift card was the perfect gift and I loved the beautiful flowers.
They lasted and lasted.

Monday is a minimum day and is designated as Sports Recognition Day. Parents and coaches join us at 11:15 in STM gym. All those students who participated in a STM sport this year will be recognized and receive their participation trophy.

Tuesday, is Field day. Second Grade wears the color purple.

Thursday is Blue and White Day. Free dress but wear your school colors.

Enjoy the sun while it's here.

Week of April 26th

Congratulations to the Second Graders who received their First Reconciliation on Saturday, April 24th! They were so prayerful. Father Brian, Father Mark, & Father Piers were very pleased
with the children's sincerity and peacefulness.
For the next two weeks we will be preparing for their First Holy Communion.
Please try to have an atmosphere of calm and prayer in the days before and through May 8th.
Remember: All banners, $20.00 First Communion Fee, and information paper for the
church register (kept for all sacraments) are due no later than April 30th.
Anyone adult who can, please come, May 7th at 2:45 to help set up church for First Communion. Many hands make light work. Bows on pews, worship aids need to be passed, banners must be hung, altar decorations need to be in place. We'll try to get this done in an hour.
Thanks for all you do.

Thank you to those who have turned in the First Communion Information and Fee. Although I asked for these by the 16th of April, I will extend the due date to Friday, April 30th.

Other dates to remember: First Reconciliation - Saturday, April 24, 10:00 a.m. STM church
Church set up - Friday, May 7, 3:00 in church
First Communion - Saturday, May 8, 10:00 a.m. STM church

This week Second Grade has been reviewing Math Operations, Adjectives, Vowel Digraphs and
Diphthongs. It seems some students have forgotten a few things.

Happy Spring & Go Giants!

Week of March 22, 2010
The Second grade thanks you for attending their prayer of the Stations of the Cross last Friday.
It meant so much that you were there.

This week's spelling lesson has words with prefixes, all of which are simple enough. Watch out for -unconscious and undefeated. Those 2 could be tricky.

TheatreWorks presented Oskar and the Big Bully Battle today, a delightful play told with humor and imagination that encouraged critical thinking in an incidence of bullying.

Palm Sunday is this weekend. We celebrate Jesus' triumphful entry into Jerusalem.
Make sure everyone attends Mass.

Next week each child will need to bring an empty tuna can for an Easter art program. The study sheet will let you know what day they need to bring them.

Have a good week.

Week of March 7th
This week Second Grade has begun preparation for their presentation of the Stations of the Cross. This prayer is scheduled for Friday, March 19, 2010, at 1:15 in STM Church. Please come and pray with us.

Tuesday evening, yesterday, the parents of children preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion met, once again, regarding the parent role in preparation for these Sacraments. Those who did not attend must contact me ASAP.

Junior Basketball is going well and the students are having a great time. Thanks to those who come and cheer for their children.

We had 24 100% in the last spelling test. Let's for for at least 30 in our Review Spelling
Test 24. Don't forget that test is tomorrow. Friday is a student holiday.

Enjoy the sun!

Week of March 1, 2010

Second Grade continues to review their addition, subtraction, multiplication & division.
Mercy High School student, Renelle Gurion, will be with us all week for Mercy's Immersion Program and is working with students in all subjects.

Lucky Book orders sent home today are due Friday, March 5th. Please make checks payable
to Scholastic Books, not to STM School.

Mark your calendars for March 9th, next Tuesday. A First Communion Parent meeting is scheduled for that evening beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Carroll Hall. Both parents need not attend.

Have a good week. I'll see you Tuesday evening and at Jr. Basketball next Sunday.
